Mr W. Forster Allanh[ea]ds

I’m sorry to acquaint you that I cannot consistently with my former agreement with Pringle (w[hi]ch is in writing and signed by us both) let you have the carriage of any of Wolfcleugh Ore till his term is expired. I thought it was right to give you this second information least you should suppose f[ro]m what past at Hexham that you would get a part, & increase your Horses, for I heard that your Brother was inquiring for one for that purpose tho’ I confess it’s some relief to the disappointent of not being able to grant the request that it was your goodness to serve others and not yourself

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
