Mr Beaumont		July 9th 1824

Mr Edward Swinburn has been very unwell for some weeks but he has now got out again.  I believe he has had a slight fever from taking cold but the wits call it the Summer fever ... I have got the cupola down and partly covered in ... I shall next get on with the inside work of the new kitchen and lower the present stacks of chimneys.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
