Of Mr Step [rest of line missing] cheshire & shall rep [rest of line missing] to Mrs Millington & acq[uain]t her [rest of line missing] the goods in the great box, into two Less<er> boxes [1 word missing] will come with much more ease & she will not find anything awanting that she put up as soon as our harvest is over will send the brewer with the boxes to the Red Bear in Leeds & she shall cast to be their on a Wednesday that he may see the carriers & the goods weighd

a later letter gave the date of this as 10th August. Recipient not stated but context and later letters indicate it was to Captain Wm Millington in Cheshire

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
