Sir/ I have been informed, since my Lre on Tuesday that a subscription is set on foot in Hexham for the relief of the poor there & in the neighbourhood. If so I desire you will contribute ten Guineas for Sir Walter Blackett, either in that Way or such other as you judge better, & place the same to his Acc[oun]t; as I know it will be agreeable to him.  I am etc   HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
