Hon[ou]rd Sir       Mr Clayton spoke to the Ushers of the Grammar School and they have agreed to take the Additional Salary and confine themselves to the business of the School and not seek after Lectureships & crusades.

I have by this post sent Mr Darwin abstracts of the surrenders of the copyhold part of Woodcroft estate, which I got last night only from the Steward of the Halmot Court for the manor of Stanhope and hope Mr Darwin will be able now to make out the title.

But after the best enquiry I can make I cannot get any acco[un]t, to be depended upon, of the Quantity of the Copyhold part; or where it lies, the old names Being entirely unknown to the oldest people on the farm or in the neighbourhood of it. I have sent Mr Darwin all the other particulars necessary for an advertisement. I am etc Hen Richmond

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
