To      Mr William Alvey Darwin   Greys Inn                              Newcas.   19th  July 1771

Sir      Inclosed is Bell and Cos. Bill on Glyn & Hallifax  for Five hundred pounds, payable at 20 days from 12th inst[ant]t, which I have endorsed to You & desire you will place it to my Accot. and advise the receipt of it.  I intend it to enable you to pay the half years int[eres]t which will be due to Sir Edward Winnington  on the 6th of next month on Sir Wr. Blacketts Mortgage of Wallington.                  Inclosed also is another Bill of Bell and Cos. on Glyn & Hallifax  for One hundred & Eighty six pounds payable at 20 days from 12th instant, which I have endorsed to you to make the quarterly & other payments as usual in London for Sir Walter Blackett to Mich[aelma]s next, & desire you will place the same to his Accot. & send me the usual receipt for it.                     I am etc    HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
