Grey’s Inn London                                                                        Newcastle 22nd April 1766

Sir                  Inclosed herewith are Bell and Cos two bills on Vere and Co as above; The first bill for £400, I send you on acco[un]t of the quarterly payments made & to be made by you on Sir W[alte]r Blacketts acco[un]t between the 31st March last & 30th June next; and you will please to send me the usual receipt for it, to be a voucher to my account with him. The other bill for £495 is to pay Mr Savage’s half year’s int[e]rest due from Sir W[alte]r Blackett on the 6th of next month; and till you pay it I desire you will place this bill to my account, and advise me on your receipt of it.

I saw Mr C. Johnson yesterday and he assured me that all was settled by the Court as to the title of Woodcroft Copyhold, and the order made at the last Chancery sittings at Durham for the infant heir at Law of Dr Smith to surrender the premes to Mrs Rastall; and that he would send you by this nights post a draught of the surrender for your perusal; and that; as soon as you returned it, the surrender should be made and this matter intirely finished.
