Sir/ I am very sorry you are so much out of order after the journey but hope soon to hear you are better & to see you here. In the mean time I pity the poor girl that is left, to take care of this large house, alone; & think it is absolutely necessary that one of the maids sho[ul]d come from Wallington by the first opportunity I am etc  HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
