Jno.E Blackett Esq Newcastle

Sir

I saw the other day a Letter from Mr Adams of Alnwick to the Surveyor of the Highways for New Ridley to attend at Christmas Sessions with Witnesses to try the <traversight> Indictment of the Road between the Lead Hill & Hedley, which is what Mr Fenwick spook off at the meeting in the Assize Week. as Sr Walter has a Way for his Lead by the Lease of Apperley Lane I do think that the Lead Co. & the People of that Neighbourhood should support it themselves & if you think proper, shall acquaint the Ld Co’s Agent that Sr Walter I believe will have nothing to do with it now as they deserted him at first, but if Sr Wr means to support the Indictment it will be necessary to be looking out for Witnesses

      & am Yrs &c IH:Jr

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
