Auckland Castle



Sir       I was this morning favoured with your letter of the 3rd inst. by wch. I observe that the Lord Bishop is willing to Comply with the Terms wch. Sir Thos. Blackett offers and Accept of the £538.2.6 for the Exchange of the life of Thos. Hepple; I have accordingly wrote to acquaint Sir Thos. & to desire that he will immediately inform me of the Name of the Person he wou’d have inserted in the two leases in the place of Thos. Hepple & likewise send me a Certificate of John Depledge being living & in good health; I shall procure the like with respect to Thos. Hepple & Mr John Trevelyan, but the latter is at present in Scotland & I shall endeavour to obtain it as soon as possible.  In Case the Business woud be forwarded by sending over the present Leases to Mr Castle before I can obtain the above Information it shall be done on your Advising me of the same.     . The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
