Sir

	I was this Post favoured with your Letter of the 14th instant by which I observe that you had Comunicated my Letter to the Lord Bishop of Durham & that His Lordship had been pleased to Consent to the proposals that I made for the Renewal of the several Leases of the Leadmines & Lands in Weardale provided the Renewals be Compleated forthwith.   I am very happy that this matter is now in a Train to be settled I hope to the Satisfaction of all Parties & I assure you that no Time shall be lost on my Part in forwarding the Business as much as possible.  The two Lives in the Leases of the Leadmines are John Trevelyan Son of Sir John Trevelyan of Nettlecombe in the County of Somerset and Thomas Hepple late of Kirkhill in the Parish of Hartburn & County of Northumberland but now of the Parish of St Andrews in this Town.  John Trevelyan is at this Time in Italy but Sir John will be in Town in a few Days & will give such Certificate as I should hope may be Satisfactory.

	Inclosed are such Instructions as I am at present enabled to give you & should any other be necessary you’ll be pleased to acquaint me & they shall if possible be procured.  You will please to inform me in what manner his Lordship would Chuse to have the Fines paid Whether in Cash or a Bill drawn by Bell Cookson & Co Bankers of this Place on their Bankers in London payable at Ten Days date or at Sight.  Thomas Hepples Certificate I have got & Mr Kirton saw him the other day.  The new Life in the Leases of the Leadmines will be Jonathan Long John Depledge of West Bretton in the County of York Farmer and Maltster aged 22. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
