James Cockshutt Esq Newcastle 26th May 1804 Huthwaite near Barnsley, Yorkshire Dear Sir, On having some Conversation with Mr Mulcaster respecting his coming to you, we are of Opinion that the 3rd or 4th of June may suit both Parties, in which Case Mr Mulcaster may on his Return take a look at the Arkendale Mines where he may probably meet Mr Walton with our Agents Crawhall & Emerson, who propose being there on the 6th June for two or three Days, he will take the Leeds Coach on the Friday & make Application to the Landlord at Barnsley for the Hire of a Horse. The Mine Agents will be with me on the 28th for the Cash & Notes for the Lead Pay amounting to £39,000-0-0. I shall go up to Allenheads the 30th & make that Pay & Coalcleugh the Day following; every thing is settled between Colonel Beaumont & the Bank of Sir R[ichar]d Glyn & Co. to whom I have already remitted Bills of different Dates amounting to about £40,000.
