Sir Thos Blackett Bart Newcastle 1st June 1784 Bretton near Wakefield Yorkshire Dear Sir Inclosed you will a Bill drawn by Messrs Bell Carr & Co on Castell & Co this date at one Month for Two Thousand Pounds, the Receipt of wch you will please to Acknowledge. I had very fine Weather for my Journey; Made the Pays for the several Mines, & Lead Mills and heard no Complaints. The Mines are much in the same State they were when I last wrote you. There is no Alteration at present in the Price of Lead wch I am selling in small Quantities at £17 & £17.5.0 p Fodder & Litharge at £18 p Ton, but I am well informed that the Lead Company have sold 20,000 of Refined at £16.15.0 p Fother wch Price Lancaster & Co have offered me for 10,000 or 20,000 Ps but I wou’d not accept of it, & have no doubt of getting a better Price, tho’ I may be under a Necessity of coming down a little.
