Sir Thos. Blackett Bart. Newcastle Septr 6th. 1785 Bretton - Yorkshire Dear Sir I am favoured with your letters of the 27th Ulto. & 1st inst and am glad to hear a better account of your health. Inclosed you will receive a Bill drawn by Bell Carr & Co on Castell & Co of this date at a Month for One Thousand Pounds the receipt of wch you, or Mr Noble, will please to acknowledge. I am glad to hear that you intend being at the Meeting at Middleham; I have had a letter from Mr Stephenson of Hull & another from Mr Maynard of Chesterfield on the Business, but the day of meeting is not yet fixed on, when I know it, you shall be made acquainted, & I shall be glad to meet you at Middleham, & to return with you to Bretton for a few days. I wish that you could prevail on Mr Charles Stanhope to come with you, for we must have him to support our Application notwithstanding the late Tax is a Child of his Friend Pitt’s. Probably he may not think it proper to attend the Meeting, but at the same time give us his Assistance when the Business come before the House. Your Lead Stewards are with me at present for Subsistence for the Workmen, they are all well & the Mines much in the same state. I am etc John E Blackett £1000 .
