Dr Sir	I wrote to you the 18th inst by Express, this morning I have had a good deal of Conversation with Mr Burdon & Mr Surtees respecting the Lead Pay, they are now in great hopes that they will have it in their Power to accomodate you with a sufficient Sum in Notes, which with the Cash you may send or bring down may be fully sufficient to make the Lead Pay at the time that it was first fixed (Viz 1 2 & 3 & 4th May, but they could not give me any positive assurances of it until monday or Tuesday evening when they will from the Run that may be made on them be more able to judge on that Matter; but they said they would by this Post write to Messrs Ransom & Co on the business, this is putting off giving an Answer much too late, however from what I have seen this morning having been some time at their Bank I have very little doubt of their supplying you with their Notes, for there was scarce any Run on them of any consequence, the Bank being shut up for some days must of course occasion a want of Cash for the common occurences of life & a few of the Country people brought from 1 to half a Dozen of their £5 Notes which was pretty much the case with the other three Banks & its thought that there will not be any demands on them of consequence on Monday & that Bank is at present very well provided with Cash so that all apprehensions of a Run on them of any serious consequences is at an end _ I have Rec[eiv]ed Doctor Halls Bills on Lancaster & Co dated 1 2 3 & 4th Apr[il] at 2 Mo[nth]s for £10000 which I have placed with Messrs Surtees & Burdon                                                                        I am etc       J.E.B
