Dear Sir
Mr Blackett rec[eiv]ed your Favor of the 30th Ult. Previous to which, Returns for Col Beaumont’s Leadmines had been made out in theManner you describe, according to the Quantity of Ore raised in North[umberlan]d & Durham in Order to deliver to the several Commissioners, but which Mr Blackett postponed sending, by the advice of Mr Heron, who is Clerk to the Commissioners at this Place, & who sometime ago transmitted a similar Case for the Opinion of the Board of Taxes respecting the Grand Allies in Regard to their Collieries in this Neighbourhood. Mr Heron is in daily Expectation of an answer to his Case & thinks it unnecessary taking any further steps till he receive it, the Time having elapsed for making Surcharges or Penalties. No return for Colonel Beaumont’s Coal Mines in North[umberlan]d will be necessary as he does not work any of them on his own account.
Inclosed you will receive Bulmer & Cos Bill on Messrs Forster Lubbock & Co at 40 Days dated this Day for £187-10-,, being the remaining Moiety of their 2nd Instalment of { 8/) made by them on their Bill on Woodhouse & Co for £1,500 I am etc. T.C.
