Messrs Finlay Hodgson & Co I had the pleasure to receive your letter of the 10th inst advising the sale of a fine Piece of Silver and payment of the net proceeds £273-10-11 to Mr Beaumonts credit at Glyn & Co. I presume the quarterly Payment to the Bishop of Durham due the 31st ultimo was paid by Mr Key as usual but I have no advice of it. You state under Date of 26 Dec[ember] We debit Mr B[eaumon]ts account £83-2s-6d paid this day to Glyn & Co on his account – and shall send you an extract of the Acc[oun]t Current on the 31stinst. In the mean time you will give us credit for their Payment. This sum does not appear in your acc[oun]t Currant sent. I will thank Mr Knox to call on Messrs Chapman & Co Leadenhall Street and enquire when the Mermaid sails for Bombay and when my son Edward must come up. WB Lead Office Jan[uar]y 13th/34
