I am in receipt of your letter addressed to Mr Backhouse and am much surprised to hear of my Lead been left in the silver. I will thank you to refine it, and as soon as you can, inform me of the result, which I trust will be more favourable than you anticipate. As we are making our annual large Lead Pays a payment to our Bank will be acceptable.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
