Wednesday 1st October 1834



Set out for Aberdeen by Mail & arrived on Thursday morning.  Attended a numerous Meeting of the Directors & Committee of the Highland Society, the Duke of Buccleugh in the Chair, where many arrangements were entered into & much discussion took place, on subjects connected with the objects of that important Society, which has been so useful, in introducing improvements in the breeds of Stock, Agricultural implements & various kinds of produce, throughout Scotland.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
