I did not receive your note until today at home consequently some time after I had sent the cart to bring away the Piano Forte. I feel sorry I was not sooner made acquainted that the instrument was in use as I should have had great pleasure in accommodating Mrs <....> with the loan of it or indeed any friend of Mr Lees for a short period. The instrument was Mrs Beaumonts but a short time ago I applied to purchase it when she very politely made me a present of it. Had Mrs <…> when I first sent for it stated the matter as it really stood without prevarication all this would have been avoided for I was a total stranger to yourself and Mrs <....>

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
