Mr Beaumont.	                 March 4th 1821



The Pinis with a couple of woodcocks sent in by Matthew Lee were sent off directed to you in Pall Mall on Tuesday last ... the two mills at Bywcll .. for entire different purposes ... the High Mill being for the sole purpose of making flour and pearl barley and the low mill for making oatmeal.  There is not any room in the high mill to place a pair of stones to ground oatmeal without building and the low mill is as I before stated now standing in consequence of the water wheel having nearly fallen to pieces and it would be in vain to attempt to repair it.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
