Sir!		Feb 7th 1824

The advertisement appeared … on Saturday 31st ...  I have no doubt Sir J Swinburne feels himself in an unpleasant predicament from which he cannot withdraw with credit to himself. 



Newcastle Chronicle 24th Jan 1824.	

To the Gentlemen, Clergy and Freeholders of the County of Northumberland	

GENTLEMEN, 		

I Have returned to England in Order to discharge my Duties to Parliament, but have found that Reports concerning me have gained Credit which render me un-fit for acting as your Representative.

I must, therefore, decline any further Attendance in the House of Commons, until I am able to repel the infamous Allegations, which have been urged against me.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
