Letter – Christopher Blackett to Thomas Richard Beaumont – 7 Jul 1807

      I am favoured with you letter of 4th Inst enclosing Mr Waugh <ans> Acc[ount] Bambrough. His complaint I fear is unreasonable, but it shall be attended to, and a necessary enquiry made of Mr Emerson as to the alleged inquiry- In a few days I will procure the necessary information as to Ja[mes] Taylors Age – his residence is at Ovingham. I am sorry to tell you that the price of Lead continues to decline in this Market & Parker has bought 600 p[iece]s Ref[ined] Lead @ £30 per f[odde]r & is offered 2,000 Pieces more at the same price when any applications are made I shall feel it right to sell at the same price as others do here. It will answer no purpose to keep above the Market in the present state in of the stocks, which are increasing every day. We are that Messrs Walkers Maltby & Co have doubled their contract with the East India Co – if so their engagement is for 3,000 Tons – nearly 40,000 p[iece]s @ £26 per f[odde]r. in London @ 191/2 farc which is equal to £28 per F[odde]r. 

	Parker the other day desired me to ask you for Ticketts of leave for shooting for Mr Sam[ua]l Walker of Aldbrook near Rotherham, Mr John Kent of Hooten Roberts, & for himself Sam[ua]l Walker Parker. – he says none of them are good shooters but they wish to have leave if you have no objection.
