Letter – Edward Blackett to Aletheia Blackett – 4 Jul 1709

D[ea]r Aletheia                           						July 4 1709

      I Recd. yr Letter and you did mighty well in Acquainting me about your Bro. John’s concerns, Shall give Mr Reay thanks when I come to Newcastle for his kindness to him.

      My nephew came here yesterday above 11 a clock from his Sisters. I spoke to him upon my son Johns account and he told me he had given a positive order to Mr Wilkinson to Send all the Lead to him that he Shipt for Holland, as also that there was an Acct. standing out betwixt the Mercht. that he Employed at Rotterdam and himselfe and that he could not handsomely leave him of[f] till the Acct. was Adjusted but that in a little time he should be the only person that should be Employed.

      Tell yr Sister Maria that I did not Receive a letter from Mr Brumell with a bill Inclosed as she writ me  in case he sent one it never came to hand so lett her tell him that it was a great disappointment to me having promised to a Tradesman in Ripon to give him a bill at such & such a time  According to the Agreement that Mr Brumell & I made, and tho’ the Bills be made payable att the same time it does not please the tradesman so well, know of Mr Brumell the price of Lead per fother and give a line per next post to
