     you may remember when you were last at Newby setting strait yor Witsonday Rent you left 30£ in arrears, wch faill not to send down to Mr. Stephen Coulson & or James Mewburn by the first opportunity at Christmas I would have you come over to sett strait the Martinmas rent for the Collery – upon receipt of this letter let me know how the mines are, as also when Mr Lorain may make up what he is now a working Ten Tunns & what time he thinks he may be a goeing through all my Slaggs – wthout the undertakers write the price of all <grain to me>

Although addressed only to ‘Harry’ the subject matter of this letter shows it was for Henry Tulip at Fallowfield.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
