Sr John,    								Sept 29  1709

      I Recd. yrs of the 24 and you are heartily welcome to live in Seaton House, and to make what Alterations you please at yr own Charge.  It is  not reasonable that <I> should be at any < losing>    <I desire no rent>,  I must always Reserve two or three little Rooms for my own Steward to live in , which I hope will be not inconvenience to you at all

      All this family give their most humble service to yr Selfe & Daughter and pray believe me yr Faithfull humble Servant

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
