Cousin Laidman

I perceive by your letter, that long horsley living is vacant by the death of Mr Ward & that the presentation is in my Ld Chancellour, am very sorry that I have no manner of acquaintance wth him, these good livings are no sooner vacant, but are immediately disposed off, the onely way is to get a promise of a living in an old mans life, from the patroon, otherwise I doubt you will find it very hard to come by, wth my Service to your self & Mr Coulson I am
