      I thank you for yr present of Apples, I know in a good year I may present you with a Waggonload for in one year I made 19 h[ogs]heads of Cyder and kept 60 bushells of Apples for winter, and gave Dr Chambers a Waggonload which made him above two hheads of Cyder, and this year We had but two Apples in all our Orchards

      I do depend upon Antony Chipping at Martinmas, I shall not have occasion for yr Servt.  I have given John <Iley> notice to provide himselfe with another Farm against May day, do you likewise discharge him    With my Service to yr Selfe & Mrs Ward

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
