      Since you went from Newby I have had several Complaints against that Idle fellow that drove the hearse I hear that he & his partner got most of the paper Scutcheons that were upon the Hearse and sold them to severall people both at Burrowbridge & other places, pray bring them all down as low as possibly you can & then Inclose me a particular of Every thing I hope the Polsterer will not be unreasonable nor the painter that made the Scutcheons let Mr Hall that made the paper scutche[ons] only have Eighteen pence a peice for them for that is the usuall price with my service & thanks to you for your Company I am

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
