Honest Capt

This brings you the good news that my Daughter Blacket is in a very hopefull way of recovery so I hope there will be no occasion to give your wife the trouble of a Winter Journey I must own she was in so weak and Dang[erous] condition that I though[t] she could not possibly have livd & when I write you it was the Docters opinion likewise but now I hope she is past Danger & In the Spring my Wife Designes to goe with hir to London & soe to Bristol to the Waters which they say are the best in England for hir Distemper with my service to you both I am

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
