Letter – Henry Richmond to Boreham & Douglas – 26 Mar 1771

Gentlemen      I have your Letter dated 23rd instant, & am sorry to find you so very much misapprehend the meaning of what I wrote you on the 21st instant,  By that Letter I acquainted you with the opinions of which Sir Wr. Blackett had taken upon your Notice to him.  What was further contained in that Letter was by way of friendly Advice to you, from myself.  It is therefore impossible for me to take upon myself to say what form of a Notice or Disclaimer will please Sir Walter .  On further consideration I am persuaded that it is not only necessary for Mr Stow’s Assignees but also for Mr Stow himself to join in a Written Request to Sir Walter .  Therefore I would recommend it to you to get both the Assignees and Mr Stow to sign a Writing directed to Sir Walter Blackett, Reciting the Notice which you gave Sir Walter and that they severally disclaim all manner of benefit by the Lease, and therefore request Sir Walter to be pleased to accept the Surrender of it according to the Notice given by you.  This may prevail upon Sir Walter to accept it - but you must not assure yourselves thereof; as I have no Authority to say so.                     I am etc    HR
