To  Messrs. Boreham & Douglass  In                                           Newcas.   6th  Decemr 1771

              Berwick upon Tweed



Gentn.       Mr William Brown proposes to be at Tweedmouth on Tuesday Evening the 31st instant, & desires you will against that time have the Water down & the Shafts & other parts of the Colliery in such Condition that he may be able to make a view of the same.  & also that you will have the Fire Engine in such repair that he may be able to certify her to be what the Lease requires you shall leave her.

     Mr Ralph Forster & Mr John Bell will be at Tweedmouth on Tuesday Evening the 31 instant to receive the rents & I hope you will the next day pay to Mr Bell all the Rent that shall then be due from you to Sir Wr. Blackett & his receipt will be your discharge for the same.    & I shall be obliged to Mr Douglass if he will acquaint the other Tenants of the Rent day that they may be in readiness to make their payments. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
