In Durham



Sir      On the 8th Ultim I wrote you desiring you would search for the surrenders of two Estates in the Manor of Wolsingham belonging to Sir W[alte]r Blackett and gave you the particulars: But as I have not had any answer to that Letter I give you the trouble of this to acquaint you that Sir Walter Blackett is now here and desires to know whether you can meet with the surrender from Dr Smith of the parcels at Woodcroft, or no? this surrender being more immediately wanted than the other. I hope you will favour me with an answer by the return of the post if possible. I wish you many happy years & am etc  Hen Richmond

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
