In Durham



Sir          I must trouble you again and beg you will make another Search among the Rolls for the manor of Stanhope whether the parcels of Copyhold lands wch I described to you in my Letter of 8th Decem[be]r last were not surrendered about the 18th May 5 Geo: 1st & admittances granted between Sir William Blackett and Ralph Featherstonhalgh and Also whether the said Ralph Featherstonhalgh did not surrender the said premises about the year 1724 to Sir William. I desire also to know whether it is the Custom of the Manor of Stanhope for Copyhold Estates to be surrendered to the uses of the wills of the Tenants or how otherwise and in case surrenders are neglected to be made either to those uses or upon other occasions how such neglects are to be remedied.

The favour of your answer to this Letter with all convenient expedition will oblige Sir W[alte]r Blackett, upon whose Account these enquiries are made.

P.S. on the other side you have the description of the Copyhold Estates lest you should not readily find my Letter of the 8th Decem[be]r aforesaid. I am etc Hen Richmond
