To Mr. Chris[tophe]r Johnson Attorney at Law Newcas[tle] the 2nd September 1765 in Durham Sir Sir Cha[rle]s Howard who was one of the Lives in the Lease of Redburn Estate, which Sir Walter Blackett holds of Dr Gregory as Master of Sherborn hospital, being dead I should be glad if you could inform me what the Dr Expects as a fine for inserting another Life. The fine paid him on the [last] renewal in 1760 was £35. When I have your answer I shall get the certificates signed, that Sir Walter & Geo Robson (who are the other Lives) are now living; if you think it is necessary to have them both certified for. I am told that about 12 or 13 Years ago there was a surrender made by one Francis Jaques of Stanhope hope mill of a piece of Ground there to one John Hopper of Stanhope. I shall be obliged to you if you will let a search be made, and if it can be found, that you will send me a copy of it; & charge the expence etc to Sir Walter Blackett’s Account. I am etc HR
