To Coll Forster Esq. at Alnwick Newcas. 12 Augst. 1770 Sir Sir Walter Blackett wrote me some time ago that he had spoken to the Duke of Northumberland about buying his Land & Stints & Tithes at Lucker, & that his Grace said he would speak to you about it when he came down. Sir Walter added, that if his Grace should not open the Matter to you, I was to desire you to mention it to Him, in his Name; & that upon a Medium of the Valuations for several years past this Estate appears to be worth above £103 a year after deducting the fee farm Rents - its being let for less to Mr Forster should not, for reasons that can be given, be the rule to sell it by. As Tithes sell very near as high as Land it is hoped his Grace will not think Three thousand pounds too much for this Estate - You know the particulars & have I believe a Valuation so I do not need to send you one.
