At Littleharle                                                           Newcas[tle] 10th Decem[be]r 1765

Sir              The Trustees of the Ponteland turnpike road having at a meeting held this day, impowered me to pay off the sum of one hundred pounds of the money borrowed upon the Tolls of that road. I therefore desire to know if it is agreeable to you to take in the money due to you, and if so, the sooner it is done the better, as I have enough in my hands to do it and it will be a saving of int[e]rest to the road. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
