Mr Geo: Selby Attorney at Law in Alnwick Newcas 15th March 1774 Sir Inclosed I return your Copy of the Boundary and Description of the Lands and Coalmines intended to be conveyed by Sir Walter Blackett to Mr Selby with such Alterations as to me appeared necessary - The reason of some of these I have inserted in the Margin - You will see an Addl Sheet to your Copy containing the power of working the Colliery in the Threap Ground as they are set forth in Sir Walter’s purchase Deed From Mr Lisle this is necessary if you intend to insert the particular powers - So far as to the Colliery in the Threap Ground As to the Mines in Unthank and East Ord the inserting particular the usual powers for working these Mines is not agreeable to what I wrote you on the 6th of Decmr and the 4th Janry last wherein I acquainted you that Sr Wr would not convey in any other Terms than in those of the old Deeds and therefore is not to grant particular powers or Modes of Working - this is all I can say to this Matter and as to the rest I must refer it to Mr Darwin who has the Deeds and to whom I shall sent a Copy of your Boundary and Description of the Lands etc to be conveyed by Sr Wr to Mr Selby. I wrote some time ago to Mr Darwin to take Sr Wr‘s Directions about employing a Counsel in London or one in the Country and hope as Mr Darwin is Master of the whole Business that the Conveyance Deed will be easily settled but before it is ingrosed I desire to see it I am etc HR
