       near Darlington



Sir       Sir Walter Blackett is sorry to give you so much trouble; but the hams & <Cheeks> which you send are so much better than any he meets with here that I will be obliged to you if you will send half a doz[e]n of each sort directed to him in Newcastle as soon as you can conveniently meet with them. And I will desire Mr Darwin to pay you for them, unless you can < ……..> me in any Way of reimbursing you sooner. I am etc                                       H R

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
