To Mr Isaac Hunter at Dukesfield Newcas. 19th July 1771

Sir I cannot tell how to give directions about rebuilding the Houses at Lintzgarth that were burnt on the 8th instant till I have some Conversation with you about them and in the meantime wish you could get a Survey & plan of the ground which is let for Ten pounds a year & of the Situation of the Mill & Mill Clerks house etc with respect to that Farm. The Assay which you sent me of Dry Sike Lead is 6 oz. 10 <scruple or dram> 3 grain so I have told Mr Mulcaster to refine what comes of that sort. I find Rookhope Lead now comes in very well and hope it will continue to do so. By your Letter of the 30th Ult. I see you have taken some pains to Examine into the Difference between the Delivery of the Ore last Year from the Mines and the receipt of it at the Mills & hope for the future we shall have more Accuracy in those Articles. I shall be glad to know, but possibly Mr Heron may write me, what is done at the Sessions about the Indictment of the Lead Way near Hedley. I am etc HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
