Sir     If you will come to Town on Wednesday my Brother will go with you next morning to take down the Testimony of such persons as you think can prove the Road from Blaydon to Edmondbiers to be a Highway. Sir Walter has ordered this to be done therefore you will be here that Evening: and in the mean time it will be proper to be considering who will be the best Evidence & to collect them at some convenient place or places on Thursday which will save a good deal of time and riding [.] As to any expense that this may occasion you must pay it and charge it in your quarters Acco[un]ts. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
