Sir                        I desire you will send a person on purpose with the inclosed Letter to Mr Westgarth ; unless some other safe opportunity offers.

I shall be glad to hear the Lead comes away from Rookhope Mill; we must not stand haggling about the price, as I told you at the pay : I hope you have seen the principal carriers & prevailed upon them to begin; if not, go to them again and please them. For the great Quantity that is there makes it necessary for Sir Walter to submit at this time.  I am etc                   HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
