To J Strickland Esqr. York Newcas 13 April 1772 Sir I received the favour of your Letter, which I could not answer without communicating it to Sir Walter. He hopes you will excuse him for not writing and desires me to give his Compliments & tell you he is sensible of your Friendship in proposing the visit to him - but Mr. Carr of Etal is with him & Sir John and Mr. Trevelyan are expected today so that he thinks he need not trouble you at this time but reserve the Satisfaction of your Company till he sees further. It is unfortunate that the Mayoralty confines Sir Walter either to Newcastle or within reach of it on Emergencies so that getting to Wallington is almost all that can be effected. Dr. Askew is prescribing for Sir Walter at present; but in two or three days I hope he will go out of Town and leave the Care of the Bridge to others; & That I am convinced will be the likeliest way recover his health.
