To Mr John Bell at Mr Ellis’s in Newcas[tle] 20th April 1764 Hexham Sir I think Isable Richardsons Letter of Attorney, of which I gave Mr Westgarth a Copy was upon a half Crown Stamp. Mr Westgarth proposed to get one done in the same Form for Ab[raha]m Dawson to execute and send to Mr Darwin, Because Sir W[alte]r Blackett had told him the money would be paid if such a Letter was sent. This is all I know of the Matter, only since I received your Letter I have enquired of Mr Widdrington & Co about the Letter of Attorney you mention; and they tell me it was a sufficient power for Mr Darwin to receive every thing due to Ab[raha]m Dawson’s Son at the time of his Death. So that till you hear further I think nothing more need be sent. P.S. Since writing the above I have seen the Letter of Attorney that was sent, and dare say it is sufficient. I am etc H R P.S. [note in margin] I find Ab[raha]m Dawson is very uneasy for his Money; & understand f[ro]m my Bro[ther] that a Lre of Attorney was sent Empowering you to receive it.
