Hexham                                                                              Newcas[tle] 23rd Febr[uar]y 1766

Sir I forgot in my last Letter to tell you how well I thought you had done in getting such an advance for West Wood tithes above what Sir Walter had ordered they might be let at and therefore now write this on purpose in approbation of your management and when an opportunity offers shall not neglect acquainting S[i]r Walter thereof. I am etc       HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
