To Mr Bell at Mr Ellis’s Hexham Newca[stle] 30th Octor 1768 Sir I rec[eiv]ed your Letter inclosing Johnson & Grahams proposal for Keenley Quarry & draw kilns. I suppose no more can be got than they offer which I see is the same that Stobbart paid; So lest Stobbart should complain to Sir Walter of the preference given to these folks by letting the quarry to them it wo[ul]d be right to acquaint Sir Walter of the charge against him when he came to Hexham which he talks of doing soon And if he agrees to the Lease you sho[ul]d I think tye them up to a certain Number of Cutters for the rent with so much more rent for every additional Cutter as you may be informed is reasonable. I wrote Mr Heron last post by Sr Wrs direction that he agrees to the place Mr Wilson mentioned for the Carriers Stand at 6d a year a piece as an Acknowledgem[en]t provided care be taken that they do not gain a property in it but that their possession be determinable at his pleasure.
