Sir / You told me that you had Estimated the damage done to Sir Thos. Clavering’s Estate by working for Gravel for Pontel& turnpike road, at ten pounds I find it will be necessary that you certify this by putting it into writing & setting your name to it; that it may be produced at the meeting of the Commissioners and an order thereupon made for the payment of the s[ai]d sum. Therefore do this & send it to Sr. Wr.; or else send it to <us>. I am etc  HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
