Sir  I received your lre of the 13th inst[an]t requiring Sir W[alte]r Blackett to pay you Five hundred pounds on the 12th May next in part of his & Mr Peareth’s joint Bond to you for 

£2000.

I have not yet heard from Sir W[alte]r to whom you say you have wrote about it, but I make no doubt the money will be ready. Only in the mean time I think it proper to acquaint you ; that as I remember that this bond was assigned by you to your Father  in law Mr Ward, it will be absolutely necessary before the said lien can be paid you for Mr Ward to join with you in an Endorsem[en]t upon the said Bond to the following Effect, to wit, 1764 May 12th Received of Sir W[alte]r Blackett Baro[ne]t by Henry Richmond the sum of Five hundred pounds ; being part of the principal sum of £ 2000 received by the written Bond; I say received the same by & with the Approbation & consent of William Ward Esq[uire] testified by his being a party hereto : All intrest due on the said principal sum of £2000 being paid to this day. And besides this, it will also be necessary that an Endorsem[en]t be made by Mr Ward upon the said Assignment from you to Mr Ward, as follows, 1764 May 12th I do acknowledge that the Sum of Five hundred pounds, part of the principal sum of £2000 secured by the within recited Bond from Sir W[alte]r Blackett & Wm Peareth Esq to Mr Fenwick Esq[uire] wch Bond is Assigned to me by Virtue of the within written deed, has this day been paid to the said Mr Fenwick Esq[uire] by & with the approbation & consent of me the within mentioned Will[ia]m Ward Esq[uire].

As to paying the money by means of Mr Hull, I do not see how that can be practicable for I must see that these Endorsem[en]ts are properly made & signed & attested before I can part with the money.

I am very sorry you are to have so much trouble before the Money can be paid. But it all arises from your having assigned the Bond as aforesaid, with the knowledge & privity of Sir W[alte]r Blacketts Agents. And I am advised by Mr Waddington that it will not be safe for Sir Walter to pay either the whole or any part of the Money without Mr Wards concurrence  as is here mentioned.

As to Franks, I am sorry I cannot send you any; for Sir W[alte]r is in London & I have none that I can spare. I am he                                                            H R
