To John Fenwick Esq[uir]e in Newcas[tle] 6th April 1764 Roberts’s Place York Sir As I wrote you in my Letter of the 31st ult, the Endorsements will not be sufficient discharge to Sir W[alte]r Blackett, nor a sufficient voucher to my Acco[un]t with him;unless I have a Receipt for the Money in such form as I wrote you the 23rd ult so you will please to consider how you are to manage this, for the Money will be ready for you here on the 12th May next, or if you can draw upon me for it, It will be paid in Case you send me a Letter of Advice in Time, worded in the Way I mentioned. I am sorry Mr Hull cannot accommodate you as you expected, but that is not my Fault. As to my sending you Bills upon London for the Money, I cannot do it; for the Reasons mentioned in my last Lre:for I must first have a Receipt. I should be very glad to save you the journey, or any Trouble that I could: but you must permit me to act with safety in an affair of so much Consequence. If you cannot draw upon me, nor receive the whole money here yourself, I see no way left but for you to sign the inclosed Receipts and send them on or before the 12th May : and then I will endeavour to get you a Bill or Bills for the whole money, payable at 25 or 30 Days from that Date; wch as soon as you receive it will be necessary for you to advise me of; mentioning what Bills they are, and for what Sum; otherwise I shall of course apprehend they have miscarried and shall be obliged to Stop Payment. You see all I have in view is only to get this matter transacted in such a Way as will correspond with Sir W[alte]rs Safety and my own ; for I am etc. Sir You[r] mo[st] Obed[ien]t Serv[an]t H R 1764 May 12th Received of Sir Walter Blackett Baro[ne]t by Henry Richmond the Sum of Forty seven pounds ten shillings being in full for half a year’s interest of Two thousand pounds due to me this day.
