Letter – Henry Richmond to John Westgarth – 8 Dec 1768

To John Westgarth Esq at Unthank near Stanhope Weardale         Newca[stle] 8th Decemr 1768

Sir

I received your Letter of the 26 of last Month desiring that John Pringle may have a house at Redburn for his Father and Mother. I have spoke about it to Mr  Robt Allgood, to whom Sir Wr Blackett has let the whole Farm; but he begs to be excused a Compliance with that request, because the Father’s having a house there wo[ul]d give a pretence to the Son, who he says has been a bad Neighbour, to have a right of Inter Common. And he adds that rather than be liable thereto he would if Sir Walter Blackett should require it of him pay or allow the rent of a house for the old people in any other place. Whether Sir Walter would require such a Thing of Mr Allgood I cannot say, nor can I add any Thing more upon the Subject of your Letter but that I am etc    HR
